Downloads
GenSurf is currently available in three flavors. Depending on your mapping needs, you may want to download all three.

Standalone executable This is a Windows 9x/NT-compatible executable that will produce .map files for any of the currently supported games. If you use QERadiant or Q3Radiant to edit maps, you will probably find one of the plugins to be more convenient. Unzip the file to the folder of your choice... location is irrelevant.

QERadiant 147 plugin Works in conjunction with QERadant 147 to produce terrain surfaces for Quake2 and Half-Life maps. Unzip this file to the "plugins" folder below radiant.exe. NOTE: This plugin will NOT work properly with earlier versions of QERadiant, nor will it work with Q3Radiant.

Q3Radiant 197 plugin Works in conjunction with Q3Radiant to produce terrain surfaces for Quake 3 Arena. Unzip this file to [q3 folder]/tools/plugins. NOTE: This plugin will NOT work with QERadiant 147 or earlier versions of Q3Radiant. Attempting to use this plugin with QERadiant 147 or earlier versions of Q3Radiant will cause that program to crash.

Plugin Specifics
To use either of the plugins, fire up the editor (QERadiant or Q3Radiant) and create a brush in the location where you'd like your terrain surface. Optionally apply the texture you would like to use on the surface. Neither of these steps are required, but will save you from typing in coordinates and selecting a texture within GenSurf (which, unlike your editor, does not display graphic depictions of textures). When the GenSurf plugin is launched it will use the bounds of the currently selected brush for the extents of the surface and use the selected texture if a texture has been selected. The selected brush will be replaced by the terrain surface when you click OK. If no brush is selected at the time the plugin is launched, it will use default dimensions for the surface which you can change on the Extents tab.
